Learn how to securely make payments with Paylane using Base chain and your EVM wallet.

Before You Start

  • Your EVM wallet (MetaMask, Rabby, Rainbow, Coinbase Wallet, etc.) is installed
  • You're connected to Base network (Chainid: 8453)
  • Your wallet has sufficient ETH for the purchase + gas fees
  • Paylane extension is installed and connected

Step-by-Step Payment Guide

Find a Paylane-Enabled Webshop

Visit any webshop that accepts Paylane payments. Look for the Paylane logo or "Pay with Paylane" button at checkout.

Add Items to Cart

Browse and add items to your shopping cart as usual. Review your items and quantities before proceeding to checkout.

Select Paylane as Payment Method

At checkout, select "Pay with Paylane" or look for the Paylane payment option. The Paylane extension will activate.

Review Payment Details

Verify the payment amount in ETH, the Base network chain ID (8453), and the merchant address. Make sure everything is correct.

Approve Transaction in Your Wallet

Your wallet will pop up with the transaction details. Review the gas fees and click "Approve" or "Confirm" to proceed.

Transaction Confirmed

Your payment is confirmed on Base chain. You'll receive a confirmation and order details from the merchant within seconds.

Understanding Gas Fees

Gas fees are network costs required to process your transaction on Base chain. They are:

  • Minimal on Base: Base chain fees are much lower than Ethereum mainnet
  • Variable: Gas prices fluctuate based on network congestion
  • Your responsibility: You pay gas fees directly from your wallet, not through Paylane
  • Displayed beforehand: Your wallet shows estimated gas before you confirm

Payment Best Practices

✓ Always Verify Details

Check the merchant address, amount, and Base network before confirming. Triple-check everything!

✓ Have Enough ETH

Ensure your wallet has ETH for both the payment amount and gas fees. A few extra dollars is recommended.

✓ Save Your Transaction Hash

Keep the transaction hash (TX ID) for your records. It proves the payment if there are any disputes.

✓ Only on Base Network

Paylane only works on Base chain (Chainid: 8453). Payments on other networks won't work with Paylane.

After Your Payment

  1. Confirmation Email: The merchant sends you an order confirmation and receipt
  2. Shipping/Delivery: Products are prepared and shipped according to merchant terms
  3. Transaction History: View your payment in your wallet's transaction history anytime
  4. Support: Contact the merchant directly for order support, not Paylane
